  • Great vehicle - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

This car has been wonderful this past year. The stow and go seating is almost miraculous. I dont know how we ever lived without it. It makes this van extemely versitile changing quickly and easily from a people carrier to a cargo transport. The navigation system and audio, video system have been entertaining to say the least. I think I always want to own one.

We already had to take it in the shop and the van only has 4500 miles. We heard a knocking sound & dropped the van off for its oil change. They said it had no oil & had to be towed to the Dodge service dept. Dodge service said the belt had to be replaced & the PCV valve. Im already wanting to trade it back in and go get a Toyota. I really like this van but if it goes back in the shop within the 1st yr or 2nd, we definitely will trade it in or sell it.

No complaints or problems to date. Got the SXT with Stow N Go, power hatch, sunroof and tow package. Makes excellent tow vehicle, just make sure to get tow package to get 3800lbs ability. Mileage....24 highway, 20 normal, and 18 towing large popup RV.

  • Better than the base model - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

I had a Caravan 98, destoyed in a crash. So i went shopping and ended up the 2005 Grand, when I compared the "new " base van to my old 98, the 98 was less tinny and a better drive. have had this three days, feels solid and strong, think I am going to miss my old van less. best new feature? The redesigned cup holder that does not drop coffee cup, and air vents in the back for the dogs.new sound system is also great. My old van purred, but this one is even quieter! I bougth it with 30,000 miles and only a few months left on the warrenty, $15000 plus fees. think i did good

  • Happy so far - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Replaced my 1999 Montana ostensibly since I couldnt wait for GMs new model minivans. (always have been a GM family.) In addition, GMs minivans while adding a "nose" to their 2005 models did not offer anything new in the seat "stowage" area. The Grand Caravan SXT is undoubtedly a larger car in all respects than GM offerings. Only have had the car two weeks but satisfied with ride and engine (3.8)so far. It will take a little mileage under its belt to fairly evaluate the car but so far so good. Ill let you know later as we drive 4000K back and forth annually to AZ as to comfort and gas mileage. Happy so far.

  • OK, but Issues - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

We didnt have any problems with this van for the first 45K miles, but then the transmission seized up and had to be replaced (70K mile warranty covered all but $100, but was gone for a week with no backup which was tough). Some of the electrical features work intermittently, windows stopped working, back lift gate latch doesnt work (have to use key to open each time), engine light is on and off. Even so, it gets good gas mileage and is comfortable and safe to ride in. The DVD is a life saver with 4 young kids and long trips. The stow and go seats are great and we have used this many times, all seats lie flat so it is a like a covered long bed truck if needed.

  • Dime a dozen (used), worth every penny. - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

More room than any truck/suv, with handling and mileage of a sedan. What I like: Stow n go, lots of storage, roomy comfortable, decent on gas (27mpg hwy, 18.5 combined). Well thought out interior. Chrysler seems to have addressed a lot of the previous gens chronic mechanical issues (transmissions, sway bar bushings, etc), though it seems to have been at the expense of attention to detail. What I dont like: Cheap feel compared to my old 97, though better than the 2010 I used on loan. The pass. side power door stopped working (broken wire, easy fix, see youtube). The key fob stopped working. The airbag light is on for some reason, and OMG the rust is an up hill battle.

  • Would not buy another one. - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

This van is the small one. Lack of storage and console, no grab bar for front passengers. Inadequate air conditioning for Florida and for passengers beyond the front seats. It has an uncomfortable front passenger seat with limited adjustment. The second seat cupholders are poorly designed and placed. So far only 13.1 miles per gallon city, the same as my previous SUV V-8 which had all the amenities. For the high cost, this vehicle appears stripped and is not a good value. Im so disappointed with vehicle, I plan on trading with my son for his older SUV.

It is a very comfortable ride. You do not feel that you are driving a van at all.

  • I want to like it, but... - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

I love the concept of this vehicle, with stow n go and dvd player, etc. But unfortunately I have had many serious problems with this car failing on me. Repeated jump starts, etc. Not to mention the car turning off while driving - and in serious situations like expressway driving. Maybe this one is a dud, but I would be happy to leave a better rating once I have a more reliable car and a safe one for myself and two toddlers.
